Extraction
Sometimes teeth need to be extracted when they are heavily decayed and cannot be saved, or cracked in such a way that the roots are fractured, or when the nerves of a tooth gets infected. Impacted wisdom teeth are also another common cause of dental extractions.
It is completely normal to be anxious about having a tooth removed – no one wants to lose their teeth if they can help it. At Ferny Hills Dental we endeavour to make the experience as comfortable as you can make an extraction be. Our expertly trained dentists at Ferny Hills Dental have vast experience in removing teeth painlessly and safely. Our practice is fully accredited so you can rest assured that we adhere to the strictest levels of sterilisation and infection control measures.
After the extraction we are happy to discuss with you different ways available to replace the missing tooth/teeth so that you can smile again
WISDOM TEETH
Wisdom teeth are otherwise known as third molars. They usually push through the gums in the late teens to early twenties, sometimes older. With the modern diet, in most cases there is not enough room in the mouth to accommodate them which leads them to become “impacted”.
Impacted wisdom teeth can be asymptomatic where they don’t cause any discomfort in contrast to other cases where they can become infected giving dental pain. The decision to have wisdom teeth removed requires consideration of a number of factors and is considered on a case by case basis. It is important to understand not all wisdom teeth require extraction.
If you think you may need your wisdom teeth removed or they are giving you discomfort, please call our friendly team at Ferny Hills Dental on 3351 2731 today.
